On August 6, 2014 the Veterans Council of Indian River County will be awarded a $25,000 check from proceeds of the 2014 Vero Beach Air Show.  The successful Air Show was made possible through the vision, dedication and leadership of the Air Show Board, Veterans Council and three local Exchange Clubs.  The show received a tremendous hometown reception for performers, especially the Blue Angels, and generated significant profits to benefit local charities, including the Veterans Council.

Todd Howder, President of the Vero Beach Air Show Board will present the donation to the Veterans Council at their 1:30pm meeting, Wednesday August 6 at the Indian River County Administration Building B Conference Room.  Outgoing Veterans Council President and Blue Angels Liaison, retired Air Force Col. Martin Zichert is very proud of the Air Show success.  He said “After expenses, all the profits are going straight to the community; and our portion is dedicated to supporting Indian River County veterans.”

The Veterans Council supports all Indian River County veterans through the collective effort of veteran’s organizations, civic associations and the local community, thereby raising awareness of veterans’ needs and of their contributions to society.  For additional information about the Veterans Council contact Tony Young on 772-321-2692.
