JAMES AUBRIN KELLEY, 66, of Sebastian, Florida passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian. Jim, son of the late Aubrin and Jesse (nee Goldie) Kelley, was born in Montclair, New Jersey and moved to Sebastian ten years ago from his birthplace. Jim had retired from the US Postal service after serving as a letter carrier for 35 years in Montclair, NJ. Upon his “retirement” to Florida he began working for Home Depot in Sebastian as a Pro-Loader where he served 9 years. He was of the Presbyterian faith and found great tranquility in being able to fish the surrounding waters of Sebastian.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joan M. Kelley of Sebastian, a sister, Caryl Wood of Caldwell, New Jersey, and nephews and nieces, William Wood, Robert Wood, Chrissie Wood and Suzanne Teper.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284. LORETTA G. (CAPOBIANCO) LOTZ, 95, Born June 7th, 1919 deceased August 16th, 2014. Predeceased by husband William (Bill) Lotz and her four siblings and their spouses: Angelo and Margie Capobianco, Daniel and Lucy Capobianco, Albert and Madeline Capobianco and Erwin (Hank) and Rose (Capobianco) Holst.
She is survived by her daughters Georgia A. Lotz of Dallas, Texas and Patricia A. Presnell (Craig Albrecht) of Fort Pierce, Florida as well as 3 step-grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 16 loving nieces and nephews, especially her devoted godsons Tiny and Perry.
Loretta was a devout Catholic, involved in every parish in which she lived, including: St. Rocco’s in Glen Cove, N.Y., St. Mary’s in Roslyn, N.Y., St. Edward’s in Syosset, N.Y. and Holy Cross and St. John of the Cross both of Vero Beach, FL.
Loretta worked at Altman’s and C.W. Post College (L. I. University) and after her daughters graduated from college, she attended Nassau Community College. She always had a love for learning. She was a consummate home maker, a fabulous cook, and highly creative – extending to crewel work, dress making and creative, exquisite beaded flowers. She and Bill raised their family in Glenwood Landing and after 25 years moved to Syosset, NY. They both enjoyed being members of the Bay Club and working with the Parkinson’s support group. In 1988 they retired to Vero Beach FL to enjoy their new life near the boardwalk.
After Bill’s passing Loretta moved to Indian River Estates (ACTS) where she continued to follow her creative pursuits. She started the “Curio Cabinet” display and for 9 years directed the display of the resident’s art work and collectables. Loretta enjoyed being a Red Hat Lady and was affectionately called by this community the “beaded flower lady”.
In lieu of flowers friends are encouraged to plant a tree or donate to Alzheimers/Parkinsons Association, 2300 5th Avenue Suite 150, Vero Beach, FL 32960.The family will receive friends 4-8 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 with a 6 PM Prayer Service at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Thursday, August 21, 2012 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL. MARGARET “TUDDA” MOORE was born October 2, 1942 in Macon, Georgia to Edward and Adele Moore. She later moved to St. Simons Island, Ga in 1974, where she raised her two sons Slade and Staton Grant and began her career as a travel agent. In 1985, the family moved to Vero Beach, Fl where Tudda remained until her death on August 15, 2014 surrounded by her two sons, her best friend, Peggy Telford, and her granddaughter. Tudda was well known for her strong southern drawl and ability to do anything she put her mind to. She had a love for decorating and re-doing homes. She was always rearranging floor plans, laying tile, decorating kitchens, and reupholstering furniture. One of her favorite past times was making ceramics. She had her own kiln, and made life-sized nativity scenes for several local churches in Vero. More than anything, she was a very giving, selfless mother, grandmother, and aunt. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her sons Slade Grant and Staton Grant along with his wife Tabitha Grant and her granddaughters, Jada and Nila Grant, as well as, her nephew Michael Weaver, his wife Wendy Weaver and their children Michael, Gareth, and Tristan.
Tudda was pre seeded in death by her parents and sister, Adele Moore. She is survived by her two sons, Slade Grant and Staton Grant his wife Tabitha Grant and their daughters Jada and Nila Grant; her brother, Edward Moore and his children Edward Moore and Anna Blackmon Moore; and her sisters remaining family Clay, Kenny, and Julie Weaver along with their spouses and children.
There will be a gathering from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home. (8/19/14)
CHARLES J. SCHMIDT, 77, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away August 17, 2014 at VNA Hospice House. Upon moving to Vero Beach in 1969 to raise his family, he purchased Miller Brothers Egg Farm. After retirement, he and his wife, Donna, moved to Leoma, TN. They resided in “paradise” for 10 years before returning to Vero Beach to be closer to family due to his declining health.Charles was a man of great faith and devoted to his family. His generosity and kind heart was an inspiration to his family & friends. He lived his life with integrity, dignity, love & laughter – which are also all attributes he projected to anyone that met him. Charles was a good man with a kind soul, wonderful sense of humor and unending love. Charles enjoyed fishing, Nascar and big Ford Trucks. He was known for wearing white rubber boots, because after all, they matched everything. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, the love of his life, Donna Schmidt; children, Charlie Schmidt, Cheryl Cooper, Janet Cobb, Jill Kimbrough, Richard Schmidt, Judy Moore, Tommy Schmidt, Truman Patterson and Eugene Patterson; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 3 siblings and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 5-8 pm, Thursday August 28th at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
