Frost changing his story

Less than two weeks ago, addressing questions about his residency, Shawn Frost, the winner in the District 1 School Board race, wrote, “…my dad owns the house on 77th street. I live above the garage and help my dad with the barn chores, his health challenges, and the care of 35 acres of ranch land.”

In the same Aug. 14 email, Frost acknowledged he asked Supervisor of Elections, Leslie Swan, if he would have to remain a resident in District 1, if elected. “Yes, I checked with Leslie Swan, which is why I instructed our Realtor to narrow the house search to district 1 so that we would be in compliance throughout the process,” Frost wrote.

According to a report posted this afternoon on VeroNews.com, Frost now claims his father sold the home at 6700 77th Street to an out-of-state buyer who is, Frost said, leasing him the property. The property has been under a contingent sales contract since July 17, but has not yet sold.  Frost’s father remains the owner of the property.  (The Indian River County Property Appraiser’s website lists the property as 4.83 acres, not 35 acres.)

In the same report, Frost was quoted as saying, “I won in all 37 precincts. The voters have spoken.”

In truth, Frost did not win all 37 precincts. He lost six percents to his opponent, Karen-Disney Brombach.

In February, before deciding to run for a seat on the School Board, Frost filed to run against County Commission incumbent Joe Flescher in District 2, though he lived in District 3. Frost withdrew from the County Commission race a few weeks later, opting instead to run against Karen Disney-Brombach for the District 1 School Board seat.

In 2009, after winning more votes than any of his challengers for a seat on the Vero Beach City Council, Charlie Wilson was removed from office by court order for failing to meet the residency requirements for City Council candidates. At least in Wilson’s case, the results of an election did not dissuade the courts from taking action to remove him from office for failing to meet the residency requirements.

  1. It is so hard to remember those lies. That is why Shawn Frost stick with the old saying “honesty is the best policy”. Unfortunately I have a feeling Mr Frost will have a long political career ahead of him.

  2. I grew up with him, and I was going to vote for him and now sadly im glad I didn’t,. I hate common core but I cant trust this man to be honest. honest is the best policy.

  3. It isn’t just leasing the property–which many people do instead of buying–but he claimed he was helping his father with the farm. If it was sold and then leased only 5 acres of it, just what would require candidate Frost to set up housekeeping in Dad’s garage apartment? He could have driven from his homesteaded property every day to check on his dad and do whatever needed doing. It does sound like a Wilsonian attempt to comply with the regulations…..but really is shady. Without trust, what is left?
