Just when a rational observe might conclude Vero Beach and Indian River politics could not become any more bizarre and mean-spirited, now comes news Vero Beach City Council Candidate, Charlie Wilson, went to the Vero Beach Police Department on Aug. 22 asking to have a trespass warning issued against Dian George. In a letter Wilson hand delivered to the Police Department, he essentially questioned George’s mental health and claimed to fear for his safety.

In 2009, George challenged Wilson’s residency qualifications to be a City Council candidate. As a result of George’s lawsuit, Wilson was removed from office by order of Circuit Judge Paul Kanarek.

Last month, George filed two elections complaints against Wilson, one with the Department of State Division of Elections for alleged voter registration fraud, and a second with the Florida Elections Commission for an alleged violation of election law governing required wording on  campaign signs.

“Wilson asked if I would attempt to make contact with George and advise her to stay away from his residence and business,” Officer Lohman wrote in his report.

After professing not to want to “start rumors” Wilson, in the letter he delivered to the Police Department, raised questions about George’s mental health.  “I do not wish to impugn her character or start rumors or for law enforcement to confirm or deny the truth of Ms. George’s mental state,” the perennial seeker of public office wrote.

Wilson, who was again politicking before the cameras at yesterday’s City Council meeting, concluded his letter addressed “To Whom It May Concern,” writing, “…when my safety and the safety of others is a concern I must request assistance.”

Wilson may look out past his nose and see “crazy,” but as I have reminded him more than once, we are what we see in the world.

  1. Whenever someone starts a sentence with “I do not know if this is true and I have no real facts to back it up, but I want to tell you something” you know that the person who states that, is only out to smear the person they are talking about.

  2. I have met Charlie Wilson on a few occasions and I can honestly say that I do not really know him well: however I do know Dian pretty well, and can say with conviction” Charlie, you have nothing to worry about physically from her, she is not violent or crazy, just don’t get on the bad side of her because legally she will do a lot of damage”! Dian is a disabled Marine Corp. Veteran, she has served her country well and is determined to serve her community equally as well!

  3. Says a lot about a male that requires a restraining order against a disabled American Marine veteran.

Especially after the only real threat is to his political career.

You truly are bat-s*** crazy, bro.

  4. The only one Charlie Wilson should be afraid of is himself. He is his own worst enemy. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to trespass on Charlie’s residence or business. For his own peace of mind, how about we all stay away? And I wouldn’t be making any comments about someone’s mental health without some serious proof. That kind of talk has a way of blowing back into the speaker’s face.

  5. A new low for Charlie Wilson . This is just another campaign ploy by the tricky Charlie Wilson who is looking for sympathy. He does need sympathy ,but not for his fears about which he has involved the police. He deserves sympathy for his lust for power and position at any cost.

  6. Here goes Charlie Wilson telling half truths and whole lies on Dian. He does not know her or her character but he will spread those vicious lies. Shame on you Charlie you are such a sore loser.

  7. Dian George is obviously an ethical person who has respect for the law of law. This is not something to fear. If Charlie Wilson has the facts on his side, he should welcome the independent assessment of his eligibility to be a candidate.

I know from my own experience that there are people who have so much invested in a candidate that they have no problem in attempting to defame a critic’s character and mental stability. When you have no substance, personal animosity is the only tool left in the tool box.

I would recommend that Dian George do as I did and demand that the Sheriff’s office be compensated for the waste of taxpayer resources.

  8. I stopped in to my favorite consignment store which is right across the street from City Hall and I almost took a picture of Charlie Wilson but after closer look it was a puppet of Pinocchio.

This is so typical of Wilson….Attack the messenger.

Keep up the good work Dian…and, don’t let this clown get you down.
