Oslo Road boat ramp rally, protest and petition delivery set for 8:30 this morning at County administration building

If the County Commission goes forward with the controversial expansion of the Oslo Road boat ramp, the cost to county taxpayers will be $1 million. According to environmental groups, the price paid in terms of damage to vital sea grasses could be immeasurable.

Still hoping to persuade the Indian River County Commission to reconsider its decision to go ahead with the controversial Oslo Road boat ramp project, the Pelican Island Audubon Society and the Coastal Conservation Association plan to hold a protest rally in front of the county administration building at 8:30 this morning in advance of the county commission meeting.

During the commission meeting, the two groups will present a petition with more than 2000 signatures, including those of Vero Beach Mayor Richard Winger, Dr. Edie Widder and other other prominent opponents of the project.

  1. Good for them! It just seems like a bad idea to spend one million dollars on a lagoon project that has nothing to do with making it healthy.
