My father always said, “To live a quality life, never lie, cheat, or steal”. Pretty simple right? Well, those would be wise words to three candidates for Vero Beach’s City Council. Charlie Wilson, Pilar Turner, and Harry Howle have done nothing but lie about their policies, cheat local election laws, and try to steal your vote.

Pilar Turner recently stated in the Taxpayers Association Forum that she never intended to sell off Crestlawn Cemetery. In 2013 she was very adamant about selling off the City’s land. So much so, that the Council had to insert an amendment charter on the ballot to prevent it. There’s the lie.

Harry Howle recently sent a post-card, identifying himself as a Reagan Republican. That’s a clear violation of election laws in a non-partisan race. Apparently election laws are simply suggestions in Vero Beach.

Charlie Wilson has claimed for over 5 years that he can sell Vero Beach’s Utilities to FPL. He says that, because he knows that’s what you want to hear. He’s stealing your vote. He has no practical plan to do sell. Nobody does, that’s why it hasn’t been done.

In addition to the three cases stated previously, the “Committee to Change Vero Electric” PAC sent an email to all the Democrats in the City of Vero Beach, telling them not to support Jay Kramer because he signed an oath to support only Republicans. The hypocrisy in this is that the founders of the PAC are sitting, elected officials in the Republican Executive Committee and they have signed the same exact oath Vice-Mayor Kramer did.

This City Council election has come down to the liars, who are trying to cheat and steal your vote, or the honest guys, trying to preserve Vero Beach.
