With his campaign apparently running low on cash, Vero Beach City Council candidate Charlie Wilson has been relegated to misinforming voters through his Facebook page.
In 2009, when Wilson last ran for a seat on the City Council, the island weekly and the Press Journal gave him plenty of ink and paper to disseminate his hollow promise that the electric system could be sold within a year and for a net gain to the City of $90 million.
This time around, Wilson promises to close the deal within two years, though he is not making an claims about a windfall to the City. However, he has somehow concluded $3 million will miraculously be left over to spent on the Lagoon.
Wilson’s latest Facebook post is another of his signature distortions of the truth. Answering a question from Councilwoman Pilar Turner, City Manager Jim O’Connor said today a forced partitioning of Vero Electric, such as the Shores Town Council and the Indian River County Commission seek, would likely cost the residents and taxpayers of Vero Beach some $14 million a year.
Only in Wilson’s world could the legal actions taken by the Shores and the County be blamed on the current Vero Beach City Council. Wilson’s assertion these lawsuits are the fault of the City is still further evidence he cannot be expected to defend the City and its residents against coordinated legal attacks from the Indian River Shores Town Council and the Indian River County Commission.
And only in Turner’s world would it make sense for the City Council to join the Shores and the County in their lawsuits against the City. As preposterous as this suggestion sounds, it is exactly what Turner has proposed.

I guess Charlie is desperate . Campaigning on his face book page and then complaining about can’t we stick to the issues immediately after making the comment about me being a mental, unstable, disabled veteran. I can’t believe he puts food in that mouth. It seems that he is having a little trouble dealing with the pressure. As the days pass and it gets closer to election day, the stress is showing on him. He has created his own situation. I wonder if posting on his face book would lend to anyone wonder if he is not getting the financial backing that he was hoping for.
People are running away from him in droves. The stress is showing. What is strange to some is why Charlie keeps pushing for Turner and Howle when they are running as far away from him as possible.He is desparate. He has brought this upon himself with his attack dog behavior at council meetings.
