Regulators urged to decline FPL water-fight request

FPL LogoState regulators should reject a proposal by Florida Power & Light to pass along costs to customers for “advocacy” efforts against new federal clean-water rules, according to a staff recommendation, The News Service of Florida reported Monday.

The state Public Service Commission is scheduled to take up the issue Dec. 18 and received the staff recommendation last week.

FPL is seeking to use $228,500 to fight against the proposed “Water of the United States” rules, which would revise definitions under the Clean Water Act. MORE…
