If the shoe fits

Following up yesterday on a public records request, I sent an email to Indian River Shores Town Clerk Laura Aldrich and received an automatic email reply indicating Aldrich will be out of the office through December 30. Aldrich’s automatic reply instructs anyone needing assistance to contact Town Manager Robbie Stabe. From Stabe’s email address came an automatic reply indicating he will be out of the office through January 2. Stabe’s reply instructs than anyone needing assistance should contact Aldrich, who, of course, is also unavailable.

One cannot help but wonder what kind of front page news the Vero-Beach-bashing “John’s Island Weekly,” aka Vero Beach 32963 would make of these emails, if they had come from Vero Beach City Manager Jim O’Connor and City Clerk Tammy Vock.

  1. Indian River Shores residents – need to contact your town’s staff? Who ya gonna call right now? Maybe your police chief?

  2. Right now the only problems I can see would be from Vero Beach Electric…..and there are none! Our police force, as is yours, one of the best trained and efficient so we can let Laura take a break for the Holidays. Incidentally, I now love Vero Electric as my last bill was a fabulous under $300.00 for the past month! Keep up the great work and see if I can’t get some rebate for my new Trane Air Conditioner from Barker Air Conditioning, their price was much lower than Sears, Home Depot or this other Joker from Melbourne, the service was great. Happy Holiday to all, visit the Four Chaplains Monument in River View Park, Sebastian, and let this be a reminder that as Americans we need to work together, and as citizens our cities must also do the same!

  3. Larry,

I think you missed the point. No one is objecting to Laura taking vacation time over the holidays, or to Robbie taking a vacation, or to both of them being away at the same time. It is a little awkward, though, for both of them to send out auto reply email advising that the other can be reached while they are away. Besides, I was not referring to problems that you might see or not see. My commentary was directed to the relentless, six-year smear campaign the “John’s Island Weekly” has carried on against the City of Vero Beach and its employees.
