Speaking at the Riverside Theatre Monday, former Vice President Dick Cheney characterized President Barack Obama’s world view as “disturbing.”
Well, there is enough “disturbing” to go around, especially if you consider former House Majority Leader Dick Armey’s claim that Cheney misled him about Iraq’s nuclear capabilities. According to Armey, Cheny told him Saddam Hussein had close ties to al-Qaida and was well along in developing a briefcase-size nuclear bomb.
“Did Dick Cheney … purposely tell me things he knew to be untrue? I seriously feel that may be the case,” Armey said in an interview with Washington Post reporter Barton Gellman. “Had I known or believed then what I believe now, I would have publicly opposed the resolution right to the bitter end, and I believe I might have stopped it from happening.”

Perhaps we’ll never know the whole truth about the ‘weapons of mass destruction’ or the ties to al-Qaida that Saddam Hussein reportedly had…..or the sources of that ‘intelligence’ upon which we relied at that time…..or what part our leaders had in misinforming us.
Dick Cheney is a talented showman. With so much unfolding in today’s world, he is reminiscent of yesterday’s news that just keeps popping up. It appears that his own party, the “New” Republicans or the “Tea” Partiers, have distanced themselves from the old Bush regime and need to move forward with making a difference in both houses, which they now control. I do however give Cheney credit, he is a businessman who continues to please his audiences together with his Gay Daughter. As her father he has always supported her from the day she “came out” separating himself from the GOP’s far right; he is always his own person! I am sure that he puts on a good show, continues to make a lot of money and is a reminder to us on how far we have come as a Nation!
Lets see Cheney just before joining the Bush administration moves Haliburton to Bermuda to advoid U.S. taxes.Cheney then creates a scenario by bending the arms of CIA anylysts so they will say that we must invade Iraq which actually infuriated these objective anylysts . Cheney cheerleads the war ‘The insurgency is in its death throes ” we know the rest …..Haliburton charges the U.S.taxpayer 39.6 billion what a great guy !
Would have liked to ask Mr. Cheney the following two questions:
You (Cheney) claimed Saddam had an active and ongoing WMD program. There were no significant WMDs found.
You said that Iraqi oil revenues would pay for the US invasion. It did not, by any margin.
You said all Iraqi’s would greet the US as liberators. Hardly.
You repeatedly linked Saddam and Al Qeda. In fact they were tactical and ideological adversaries.
So, Mr. Cheney, having been proven wrong on every point you claimed regarding the invasion and occupation of Iraq, why should we pay you any attention or assume any credibility to what you now claim?
Your (Cheney’s) actions damaged the country, caused incalculable pain and suffering to Iraqis and US soldiers, shamed the USA with your torture program and you continue to run down the country with your sneering pejoratives. Don’t you think you’ve done enough damage?

Dick Cheney is a war criminal and his thoughts on the current administration or any administration in the future are not to be taken seriously. At this point, Cheney is merely trying to rewrite the history of his time as vice-president to make himself look better than the war criminal he is.
