Fifteen local chefs competed in the Homeless Family Center’s 7th Annual Top Chef Challenge Qualifying event held January 26. More than 250 hungry attendees tasted twelve savory and three dessert dishes, and then voted for their favorites.
The top four chefs with the most votes will compete for the prestigious title of “Vero’s Top Chef” at the Challenge Finale on February 23. Congratulations to the finalists – Chef Joey Fenyak and Chef Kim Coveny from Joey’s Seafood Shack; Chef Dean Evans with Oak Harbor Club; Chef Bruce Turner from The Tides; Chef Erik Poffinbarger and Chef Brian Jones with Quail Valley Golf Club; and Chef Joe Faria with Sweet Touches.

Serving the homeless of the Treasure Coast for 24 years, the non-profit Homeless Family Center helps families who have had to make difficult choices between housing, medical care, transportation, food and other expenses. These decisions may lead to a family facing a situation that may truly be beyond one’s control and thereby leaving them without a home.
