Driving home this evening after a hike up to Deception Peak, I noticed a striking cloud formation hovering above the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. “Those clouds will come alive in about 15 minutes,” I said to my wife. As soon as we got home, I grabbed my camera and headed up to the rooftop to wait for the setting sun to repaint the eastern sky. As I was watching the clouds turn pink, I remembered Santa Fe Photographic Workshop instructor Glenn Randall’s advice to look behind you when shooting sunrises and sunsets. The magic may be happening all around. The pictures below were taken only seconds apart. – Mark Schumann

Absolutely incredible!
