Indian River County Commission Chairman Wesley Davis today filed to run for the office of Indian River County Property Appraiser. Current Property Appraiser, David Nolte, has yet to announce if he will seek re-election.

Earlier this week, Davis, who is serving his third 4-year term on the County Commission, announced he would not seek re-election in 2016.

It had been speculated, at least by the island weekly, that Davis might run for the Florida House seat Debbie Mayfield will vacate where her term expires in 2016.

Recent Vero Beach City Council candidate Charlie Wilson, to whom Davis contributed $500 for his campaign, was on hand today when Davis launched his bid for the Property Appraiser’s Office. Earlier this month, Davis supported a request by Wilson’s new chamber for a seat on the Economic Development Council.

Local utility activist Mark Mucher, a former employee of the Property Appraiser’s Office,  was also presence at Davis’ campaign kick-off event.

Davis announced Scott Stradley will serve as his campaign treasurer. Stradley, a member of the Indian River County Republican Party Executive Committee, was recently the campaign treasurer for an Indian River Shores based political action committee that attacked Jay Kramer for his Republican Party loyalties.
