Citizens Against the Train, a group opposed to All Aboard Florida’s proposed high speed rail service between Orlando and Miami, is planning a rally at the Indian River County Administration Complex Saturday, March 7 from 2 to 3:30.
What the group hopes will be a mass demonstration will feature several speakers, including Indian River County Commissioner Bob Solari and Vero Beach City Councilman Randy Old. Solari and his fellow County Commissioners recently committed up to $2.7 million to mount a legal challenge against All Aboard Florida. the Martin County Commission has dedicated another $1.4 million to fight All Aboard Florida.
Once in operation, All Aboard Florida plans to speed 32 train a day through Indian River County. No stops are planned anywhere along the Treasure Coast. The company plans to build the new rail service with $1.75 billion in tax-exempt bonds.
