NEWS RELEASE

Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar and the employees of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office are proud to announce that yesterday’s 21st Annual Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches Barbecue raised more than $40,000.00. The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches began in 1957 with $5,000 and 140 acres of donated land. Since then it has grown into a statewide network of homes and services for Florida’s youth in need of services. With strong leadership from Florida’s Sheriff’s and the caring support of so many generous donors, the Youth Ranches have become “Florida’s Charity for Florida’s Children.”
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “Yesterday we served a record 2,179 meals, the most in the history of our fundraiser. We wish to thank Publix Supermarket Charities, Aramark, GTL, Wal-Mart, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice, George E. Warren Corporation, Girard Equipment, and our many other sponsors, all of our friends who came out to visit us and enjoyed a good home cooked meal, as well as all of our employees who donated their time and energy to this worthy cause. I am so proud of everyone involved and thankful that we can help continue the great work of the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches.”
