The Indian County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 24 year old Cherish Perkins of 360 7th Road SW in Vero Beach for the stabbing death of her mother, Martha Perkins (49), also of the 7th Road address.

On April 16, 2015, at approximately 8:00PM, Perkins called the Sheriff’s Office and reported the death of her mother. The manner of death was not given during the phone call.  Once deputies and EMS arrived on scene, they observed Martha Perkins had suffered a stab wound to the face with a large knife. The victim was lying on a bed and was pronounced dead by EMS.  There were no other occupants in the home.

C. Perkins was questioned by investigators and admitted to both choking and stabbing her mother due in part to an ongoing conflict.  C. Perkins has no arrest history in Indian River County. She was booked into the Indian River County Jail and charged with one count of first degree murder.  A bond amount, if any, will be determined at her first appearance hearing.

C. Perkins’ booking photo will be available on our website once the intake process at the jail is complete.  The arrest affidavit will also be available online once processed through our records section.
