It’s almost summer which normally signals a time of rest and relaxation for children around the nation but for graduating seniors, it just means time to get ready for their next adventure–college life.

Hoping to encourage more creative souls to head into the fine arts, the Vero Beach Art Club has offered up to five scholarships each year exclusively for local students who want to study art or related classes which are based in the arts such as graphic design, and art therapy.

In March Dawn Mill, Dawn Miller, Sharon Morgan and Catherine Musham judged the students based on school performance, artistic talent, teacher recommendations and their college curriculum which required they take art based courses of study at accepted colleges and universities.

The 2015 Vero Beach Art Club Scholarships were awarded to: Emily Parks, Hugh Paul Dunbar, Lyle Michos, Samantha Howard and Devontay Green. Each student received a $2,000 award which would go to their approved school.

Another $2,000 check was donated to the Vero Beach Museum of Art towards their Summer Art Camp Scholarships which will enable at least 20 financially disadvantaged students to attend art classes this summer in the Museum’s Summer art school.
