Gifford man charged with capital sexual battery

Concluding a month long investigation, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office yesterday charged Michael Stuckey (54) of Gifford with two county of capital sexual batter.

In early April, a 13 year old juvenile reported that Stuckey had raped them twice when they were between the ages of six and ten years old. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office began working toward making a case against Stuckey.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Detective Ross Partee developed probable cause which allowed Judge Robert Pegg to authorize a warrant late yesterday afternoon for the arrest of Stuckey. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Indian River County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.

Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “We take crimes against children very seriously and will do all we can to protect them from predators like Stuckey. Detective Partee did an excellent job making this case so many years after the events.” The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone else who may have been a victim of Stuckey to come forward.
