You don’t make a photograph just with your camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved. – Ansel Adams
I knew Ansel well. Could you imagine digital photography in his hands? I have seen all of his work, from the large format Kodak 8×10 view cameras to Hasselblad and as a pioneer for his friend Edwin Land with Polaroid Professional Photography. Most of Ansel’s work was accomplished in the darkroom. In the end, after struggling as a photographer in the 1940’s he leaves us an impeccable portfolio of great work, much of which is a blueprint to photographic creativity!
