FIRST FRIDAY GALLERY STROLL


The First Friday Gallery Stroll will be held on June 5th from 5 to 8 pm at the businesses and galleries along and around 14th Avenue. Gallery 14 presents Togetherness: A Partners’ Retrospective on view through July. The Artists Guild Gallery presents Sailing Into Summer, a members-only exhibition of boats, water and summer fun. Art on 18th continues with works by Julie Lounibos (at right) through the month of June. Flametree Clay Gallery features a variety of clay works by resident artists, and Main Street Studios guest artist is Sharon Morgan exhibiting her historical mandala series.

SPACE COAST SYMPHONY JAZZ ORCHESTRA’S BIG BAND BASH
The Space Coast Symphony JAZZ Orchestra kicks off the new SCSO 2015-16 performing season with a swinging summer Big Band Bash at 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 6th at the Vero Beach Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street. Under the direction of Stetson University’s Dr. Patrick Hennessey , the JAZZ Orchestra will perform big band favorites featuring music from the 1920’s through the 1960’s. Included are classics from the Big Band Era’s best known composers, including Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller. $20 advance tickets are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org. Tickets at the door are $25. The performance is free for those aged 18 and under or with a college student ID.
NEW EXHIBIT OPENS AT VERO BEACH MUSEUM OF ART

American artist, writer, and naturalist James Prosek’s mixed media paintings are in the new exhibition JAMES PROSEK: Ocean Fishes on view from June 6th through September 6th at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Drive. The exhibition features twenty-two life-size paintings of some of the most well- known species of saltwater fish in the world. Published in his book Ocean Fishes (available for purchase in the Museum Store), Prosek’s paintings portray Atlantic game fish still shining with the hues of life. A special feature of the exhibition, in partnership with the Indian River Land Trust, the Museum will house a 500-gallon aquarium in the Buck Atrium with live fishes representing four “umbrella species” important to the dynamic and fragile ecosystem of the Indian River Lagoon.

McKee Botanical Garden presents Intro to Indian Vegetarian Cooking on Sunday, June 7th from 2 to 4 pm. Find out what spices are utilized in Indian cooking, and enjoy samples of a variety of dishes. Past participants are welcome as different recipes will be featured. Spice boxes will be available for purchase. the cost is $55 for McKee members, $60 non-members. Call (772) 794-0601.
