NEWS RELEASE
Earlier this year, the Indian River County Clerk of Court’s office was audited and inspected by the U.S. Department of State Passport Services. According to Clerk of Court Jeffery R. Smith, the compliance visit was part of the State Department’s Acceptance Facility Oversight Program intended to ensure the integrity of the U.S. Passport.
The auditors observed processes, customer service and commitment to measures protecting the security of the applications and the timeliness of submittal to the State Department. “They examined the actual passport applications that we processed as well to make sure we accepted them correctly. I am proud to report that our office received a ‘perfect score’ from the review and inspection,” Smith said in a press release issued yesterday.
Smith also said his department can now produce passport photos at the Courthouse. The cost for the passport photos is $10.00.
