SUMMER PROGRAMS AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY
The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is offering a series of summer children’s programs during June and July. Classes are open to children 8-11 years of age and include: Dog Care and Training, Veterinary Basics, Cat Care, Jr. Humane Officer (Children completing the class receive a Jr. Humane Officer engraved dog tag and a certificate of completion) and Animal Photography. Classes cost $25-$30 and include instruction, materials, snack and keepsake. Pre-registration is required. Classes begin promptly at 9 am and end at 12 pm. WATER VENTURES LAB AT ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER
The Environmental Learning Center is hosting the WaterVentures’ Mobile Learning Lab from June 8th to 13th. A traveling science center, this 53-foot semi-trailer is customized to provide hands-on exhibits that educate and encourage citizens to make environmentally conscious decisions about Florida’s water resources. The Mobile Lab’s team of educators will be on hand to tailor the learning experience for all ages, from pre-schoolers to adults. Water Ventures will be open to the general public on Thursday, June 11th from 10 am to noon; Friday, June 12th from 10 am to noon and 1:30 pm to 4 pm; and Saturday, June 13th from 10 am to noon. Admission is free for children 12 and under and for ELC members, and the regular entry fee of $5 for all others. Group visits (30 people or less) can be arranged by calling 772-589-5050 x-106.

Dance Space presents its annual Dance Space Spectacular 2015 on Saturday, June 13th. This dance performance will begin at 2 pm at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street. A wide variety of dance will be represented including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and contemporary as well as original choreography by Andrew Currie. All tickets are $20 and all seating is assigned. The Kashi Foundation, 11155 Roseland Road in Sebastian, is offering a Gemstones & Sounds class on Saturday June 13th from 12:30 pm to 3 pm at the Ashram. Theatre-Go-Round Dinner Theatre presents “Welcome to the ’60s” that will have the audience swinging through a decade of hits in Greenwich Village on Sundays, June 14th and 28th at the Quilted Giraffe in Vero Beach. St. Augustine of Canterbury is pleased to have one of the American Guild of Organists scholarship winners accompany the choir director, Dr. Iris Tapley, during the June 14th 10 am service. Hannah Spector, about to be a Vero Beach High School sophomore, will also play the prelude for the service. The Vero Beach Elks Lodge will hold a Flag Day Ceremony at 4 pm on Sunday, June 14th at the Lodge, 1350 26th Street. The program with guest speaker and special flag presentation is dedicated to Gold Star Mothers, those who have lost a child in combat. This new flag is recently authorized by the State of Florida, along with many other states in the US and can be flown beneath the POW-MIA Flag which is currently flown with the American Flag.
