Riverside Children’s Theatre has been selected as one of a few children’s theatre programs throughout the country to present two new versions of Disney’s The Lion King performed by local kids.
Disney’s The Lion King Junior is a student production presented by kids in 6th to 9th grades.
Disney’s The Lion King Kids is a student production presented by kids in 2nd to 5th grades.
These new versions of the classic Broadway show were announced and made available at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, which allowed our young performers to showcase their talents in front of
many national and international children’s theatres.
“We are thrilled to be one of the first children’s theatre to be given this wonderful opportunity,” said Kevin Quillinan, Director/Instruction at Riverside Children’s Theatre and Director of the productions.
“We have had a tremendous working relationship with Music Theatre International (MTI), the organization that holds the rights to these shows. We’ve not only been one of the first to do Junior and Kids versions of popular Broadway shows, but we’ve also been fortunate to workshop shows here that have then been released for national distribution.”
Disney’s The Lion King Junior, a full version of the Broadway show, performs June 19–21 and The Lion King Kids, an abridged hour-long version, performs June 26-28.
