NEWS RELEASE
Riverside Children’s Theatre (RCT) presents a concert version of Disney’s High School Musical on July 17 to 19 on the Waxlax Stage.
High School Musical was the Disney Channel’s most successful film when it debuted in 2006 with over 7 million viewers. It spawned not only a successful sequel in High School Musical 2 in 2007, but a theatrically released film, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, in 2008.
RCT’s version will be done concert-style (without sets) on the Waxlax Stage and will incorporate songs and scenes from the stage version. Songs include: “Start of Something New,” “What I’ve Been Looking For,” “Breaking Free,” “We’re All In This Together,” and many more.
The story revolves around Troy and Gabriella and starts with the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
Directed by Kevin Quillinan, the cast includes: Kristi Beckett, Kayleigh Cunningham, Mia Fornabio, Audrey Hill, Natalie Hill, Kathleen Lillian Kachaylo, Chloe Larabie, Mark Lee, Jett Morrow, Zane Morrow, Emily Olsson, Cristina Pines, Arielle Reason, Mackenzie Ross, Emily Stewart, and Alex Zimmer.
Performances for High School Musical are July 17 & 18 @ 7:30pm and July 18 & 19 @ 7:30pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 772-231-6990 or online at www.riversidetheatre.com
