In his bid for a third term on the Vero Beach City Council, Mayor Richard Winger raised $15,285 through October 2.  Winger leads the field of five candidates in fundraising.

According to campaign finance reports filed today, challenger Harry Howle, who narrowly lost his 2014 bid for a Council seat, has so far raised $12,625.  Fellow challenger, Laura Moss, who last year ran unsuccessfully for a position on the Indian River County Hospital District Board, has raised $6,413.92. Incumbent Councilwoman Amelia Graves reported contributions of $4,548.85.

Of the $12,625 in monetary contributions Howle reported, all but $1,375 was raised during September.  Howle also received an in-kind contribution of $515.97 from Pilar Turner and her husband, Al, who hosted a fundraiser for him.   Fellow challenger, Moss, who along with Howle promises to find a way to sell Vero Electric, brought in $5,313.92 in September. During the same time period, Winger, who raised most of his campaign cash early, brought in $540. Graves less than $100 during September.

For all candidates, itemized reports of contributions for September are due Monday, Oct. 10. After the candidates have submitted financial reports for September, InsideVero.com will report the percentage of contributions each candidate has receiving from out-of-city donors, along will list those donors and the amount given by each. In a City Council election in which outside interested are seeking to influence the outcome,  it is important for voters to know to whom each candidates may be beholden.
