Main Street Studios & Gallery, 2036 14th Ave in Vero Beach, presents Art with A Heart on Friday, October 16th from 5 to 8 pm. with the Military Moms’ Prayer Group’s Holiday for Heros. Christmas boxes to send to our troops overseas. Pick up a box to fill or bring items in to place in the collection box. A percentage of art sales that night will go toward shipping costs. INDIAN RIVER BIRDING FESTIVAL & ART SHOW – Pelican Island Preservation Society and the Environmental Learning Center present the Indian River Lagoon Birding Festival on Friday & Saturday, October 16th & 17th at the ELC campus. On Friday observe plein air painters from 9 to 3 with the art show reception at 5 pm. Join the “Owl Prowl” at 6:45 pm followed by a lecture on Crested Caracara Monitoring at 7pm. Saturday offers a variety of tours and lectures beginning at 6:45 am. St Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue in Vero Beach will hold its Fall Bazaar & Craft Show on Saturday, October 17th from 9 am to 1 pm. Over 30 artists, crafters & vendors showing off their creative side. Members of The Eastern Star, Vero Chapter 135 will be serving lunch in the Youth Hall from 11 am until 12:30 pm. The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department will hold registration for the Fall 2 Gymnastics Session on Saturday, October 17th beginning at 8 am at Leisure Square Fitness Center, 3705 16th Street. Gymnastics classes are available for beginners through advanced students and toddlers through teens! Participants will perform in the 20th Annual Holiday Drama, Santa Who? on December 20th at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.

weekend -DECORATE A CAKE AT MC KEE – Learn to decorate a cake at McKee Botanical Garden on Sunday, October 18th with Lori Young, owner of Sweet Creations bakery. Participants will get to decorate a frosted cake with colored icing, tips, fondant, cut outs and molds using nature as their inspiration. Choose from two sessions: 1:00 to 2:00 pm or 3:00 to 4:00 pm. All ages are welcome, and children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $30 for McKee members/$35 for non-members. Call 772-794-0601.

Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra will perform “Sounds of the Swing Era” joined by former Lawrence Welk Show singer, Sally Hart on Sunday, October 18th at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. Beginning at 3 pm, the Jazz Orchestra will swing music from the great bands of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Woody Herman and Harry James.
