weekend - 23Trees BandSebastian Inlet State Park will hold the Night Sounds concert series on Friday, November 27th features 23 Treez. The band performs elements of reggae, rock, funk and jazz fused together for make up the laid back beach sound. The concert is from 7 to 9 pm and is free with regular park entry fees.

weekend - santa-clipart-santa15Main Street Vero Beach presents “Christmas in Downtown” at Downtown Friday on November 27th from 6 to 9 pm. Prior to the event, join the Vero Cycling Fun Ride departing at 4:30 pm, from the parking lot at 1975 12th Ct (across from Jetson Appliances, between the “Twin Pairs”) and arriving back at Downtown Friday. There will be a wide variety of vendors including food and drink, a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, as well as a visit from Santa Claus. Music will be performed by Tumbleweed. Free.

The Humane Society Thrift Shops are holding an after Thanksgiving sale on Friday, November 27th from 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday, November 28th from 9 am to 4 pm. Find unique gifts for the holidays. The thrift shops are located at 4425 20th Street in Vero Beach and 441 Sebastian Blvd (CR 512) in Sebastian.

Take a relaxing stroll through McKee Botanical Garden to help relieve the stress and over-indulgence of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Oceanside Business Association presents Sunset Saturday Free Concert Series at Humiston Park on Saturday, November 28th. The featured band is Wiley Nash who will perform from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Outside food and beverages are discouraged in lieu of the many food venues and beverage bars that will be on site. Free.

Members of the Sebastian River Art Club will be exhibiting their varied styles of art at Riverview Park in Sebastian on Saturday, November 28th from 10 am to 4 pm. See paintings, pottery, prints and more.

weekend - web Civil War asian soldier tintypeThe Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Drive, is offering free admission on Saturday, November 28th. A free screening of a documentary about the Civil War, by Ken Burns will be shown beginning at 1 pm. This film accompanies the exhibit, Shadows of History: Photographs of the Civil War. The photographs capture a wide range of subjects, from geographical views, landscapes, and portraits of soldiers and officers at rest, to the death and destruction in the aftermath of battles.

weekend - Aaron Collins gives a short lesson in conductingThe Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents “Christmas at the Movies” at 3 pm on Sunday, November 29th at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street. The innovative program will pair clips from holiday movie classics on screen while the orchestra and chorus provide a live soundtrack. Joining the symphony will be a chorus of voices to perform Williams’ Three Holiday Songs from Home Alone. In addition, hear the rarely performed classic scores of It’s a Wonderful Life, Edward Scissorhands, and Polar Express. The program will be rounded out by traditional Holiday carols and the World Premiere of local composer, Kyle Jones’ setting of A Night Before Christmas. Children will have the opportunity to see Santa and Mrs. Claus. In addition, children will be invited on stage to conduct the Space Coast Symphony. weekend - pUBLIClANDThe City of Vero Beach Recreation Commission and Marine Commission invites the public to attend their next workshop on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m., City Hall, Council Chambers for a discussion on the 17-acre piece of land where the Power Plant is located as well as the former Postal Office Annex Property located on 17th Street. The event is a second in a series of workshops that will be held to solicit input and engage citizens and local officials interested in their City’s public land. Ryan Kasten, Artistic Director of the choruses at Community Church of Vero Beach has three opportunities for singers. The Atlantic Youth Chorale is seeking singers in grades 6 through 12 to attend open rehearsals followed by an audition on December 3rd & 10th. The Atlantic Symphonic Chorus which will perform “Dettingen Te Deum. HWV 283” by Georg Frederic Handel and the “Te Deum No. 2 in C Major” by Franz Joseph Haydn with professional orchestra invites singers (no audition required). Singers will need to purchase their own scores and tuxedo/concert dress to be in the ensemble. Sign-up for the Atlantic Symphonic Chorus will happen through Friday December 18th. The Atlantic Children’s Chorale is seeking singers in grades 2 through 5 to attend the open rehearsals followed by auditions on, December 7th and 14th.
