Despite the rainy weather, smiles lit up the store on December 1 as Hope Foundation of Indian River County president Warren L. Schwerin cut the red ribbon to mark the re-opening of the store at 8860 US1 in Sebastian. After cutting the ribbon, Mr. Schwerin said, “This boutique exists solely to improve the lives of the children of Indian River County. Almost 6000 of our children are living in poverty, with little chance for a better life. When you donate quality goods to the Hope Resale Boutique, you are helping those children. 100% of our profits will go to help our county’s littlest and least.”
Schwerin then presented four checks of $10,000 each to four agencies which serve children. Selected for their track record of excellence were the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, The Arc of Indian River, Child Care Resources of Indian River, and the Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center.
Originally founded as the Dasie Hope Thrift Store, the store was built in 2007. Since then it has sold clothing, furniture and accessories donated by generous Indian River County residents. The Shop had become the “go-to” for high-end women’s designer clothes and accessories. The new store will accommodate more of the high-quality clothing, furniture, and accessories for which it has become known. Since its re-opening, it has had record sales.
