According to Vero Beach Mayor Jay Kramer, as a result of his meeting yesterday with Indian River Shores Brian Barefoot, the two men agreed to seek approval from their respective Councils to get Vero Beach special utility counsel, Schef Wright, and Shore’s utility consultant Terry Deason together to discuss their numbers.
The two consultants have come up with widely differing recommendations on what the City of Vero Beach can and should reasonably charge to sell its 3,400 Shores customers. Deason believes FPL’s offer of $13 million in reasonable. Wright has advised that in order to avoid adversely impacting Vero Electric’s remaining customers, the Shores customer base would have to be sold for closer to $64 million.
Kramer said he will put the request for a meeting between Wright and Deason on the agenda for the next Council meeting.
