Did political contributions win tax breaks for FPL and others?

The 15 companies — seven hotels, three utilities, two tourist attractions, two retail stores and one sugar producer — have donated a combined $24 million to Gov. Rick Scott’s campaign, his political committee and the Republican Party since 2010. They also spent a combined $1.5 million to lobby the governor and the water district from June 2014-15.   1. Gov Scott and the FL GOP have slashed funding to all water mgt districts in the state. The funding cuts have resulted in almost complete loss of enforcement and oversight capabilities and the inability to move ahead with with significant water quality and management programs. Scott’s promise of action on the Everglades is lie as evidenced by his actions. The tax cuts are an irresponsible abdication of the state’s responsibilities to sustain and repair our environment and a huge environmental and economic tax shifted to future generations.
