According to a local news report, Indian River County Commissioner Tim Zorc and his family traveled to Iowa in December to campaign for Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz.

Zorc is running for re-election to the County Commission. His wife, Laura, is running for a seat on the Indian River County School Board.

Laura Zorc was quoted as saying, “Ted Cruz is one of the most brilliant, smartest people that we’ve had run for president in many, many years.”

Commissioner Zorc, who met Cruz in Orlando, said, “He is the real deal.”

  1. Tim Zorc should be in Florida rather than Iowa. For a bankrupt person ,he certainly gets around . Come home ,and earn the money we pay you to be a commissioner. BTW, we do not need two Zorc’s on the public dole.

  2. Has anyone looked into how much Mr. Zorc has received in travel reimbursements over the last 2 years? I have a feeling that Indian River County Taxpayers have been paying for his vacations…

  3. Will, the County seldom releases public records for free, but I will make a request. If you are thinking Mr. Zorc was reimbursed by the County for his trip to Iowa to campaign for Ted Cruz, I would seriously doubt it. However, I would think he has been reimbursed for traveling to Tallahassee to sit through the Supreme Court’s oral arguments on the County’s appeal of the PSC ruling. He is probably also reimbursed travel expenses for his attendance at FMPA meetings. Mr. Zorc contributes little or nothing to the discussions, and he often seems to greatly miss the point, but it is what it is.

  4. Tim Zorc is a “back bencher” on the county commission. Usually misses the point by miles, but still collects a good county paycheck. I too would like to see how much he has been reimbursed for travel.
