NEWS RELEASE
McKee Botanical Garden to host its Seventh Annual Motor Car Exhibition on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm sponsored by Einstein Bros. Bagels, Velde Ford and Treasure and Space Coast Radio (The Breeze 93.7 FM, 94.7 Hot County, and 97.1 Ocean FM).
Don’t miss the opportunity to view forty carefully chosen “Extinct” but not forgotten cars made by a manufacturer or division of a manufacturer that no longer exists, on display throughout the Garden that coincides with our ‘ROAR of the Dinosaur’ sculpture exhibit. The show will feature a 1953 Hudson Hornet, 1912 Stanley Steamer, 1947 Crosley ice cream truck, and a 1931 Pierce Arrow, just to name a few.
To add dramatic contrast to the extinct cars, two of Europe’s latest supercars will be shown, a 211 mph Porsche 918 and a 949 horsepower Ferrari LaFerrari.
This highly-anticipated event annually draws car lovers from throughout the Treasure Coast and beyond. While the first show drew a small but enthusiastic crowd of 300, last year’s event was attended by over 3,400 car enthusiasts.
Many once-prominent car companies have not survived, but thanks to dedicated collectors, some of their outstanding cars have survived and will be on display. Viewers will see unique cars with such unfamiliar names as Lea Francis, Messerschmitt and Amilcar.
Take a step back in time as you wander the spectacular Garden filled with these beloved and “Extinct” cars and dinosaurs from Guy Darrough’s ‘ROAR of the Dinosaur’ exhibit.
Regular hours and admission fees apply: $12 Adults, $11 Seniors, $8 Children ages 3 – 12, and free for McKee members and children under 3. Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sunday noon – 5:00 pm and closed on Monday’s. Advance tickets are available at Garden Admissions during regular business hours.
