Following a power blackout affecting half the city’s electric customers Sunday, Vero Beach officials issued a precautionary boil water notice. Included in the effected area of the outage was the city’s water treatment plant. City officials are advising that all water used for drinking or cooking through Wednesday should be boiled.
The widespread power outage, which lasted several hours, was triggered by a problem with a transformer at a substation on 58th Avenue just south of State Road 60.
