The Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition, in a mission to continually enrich the community with programs and services offered to enable every baby born here to receive a healthy start, is launching a new educational campaign. The campaign, which is a result of a children’s needs assessment and a community needs assessment which were completed by the Health Council of Southeast Florida in 2014 and 2015 respectively, identifies and prioritizes the top objectives for baby wellness and includes Getting Healthy before Pregnancy, Drug Free Pregnancies, Safe Sleep Practices, Benefits of Breastfeeding, and Communications with Your Baby.
The committee that oversaw the assessments consisted of representatives from a wide array of area organizations, in addition to the Healthy Start Coalition, that included the Indian River Medical Center, Visiting Nurse Association, Sheriff’s Department, Justice Department, Building Department, County Health Department and many others.
