On VIEW AT THE VERO BEACH MUSEUM OF ART – MASTERS OF STUDIO GLASS: Selections from the Permanent Collection is on view at the Vero Beach Museum of Art through September 11. This exhibit offers a dazzling cross section of American glass artists whose works are a study in contrast. Beginning with Dominick Labino and Harvey Littleton, known as the father of the Studio Glass movement, the exhibition examines the discipline through works that celebrate the medium and material itself, as well as showcase the revival and innovation of traditional techniques. The works in the exhibition also illustrate a variety of glass-forming technologies beyond traditional glassblowing. Masters of Studio Glass from the Museum’s permanent collection include artists such as Dale Chihuly, Benjamin Moore, Dante Marioni, and Therman Statom.

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild presents Ira Lenin’s Deathtrap, a comedy-thriller as the final show of its 58th season. Deathtrap features a famous playwright, Sidney Bruhl, who has been experiencing a long dry spell. One day he receives a play script in the mail from a young man, Clifford Anderson, who had attended his seminar. The student calls his play “Deathtrap” and is eager to get a reaction from his idol. Bruhl tells his wife, Myra, that everything about the play is perfect. When she hears him exclaim that he’d like to hit the wretch over the head with a mace, bury him, and submit the play under his own name, she nervously starts to wonder if the statement was only said in jest. Deathtrap opens Thursday, June 9 and runs through Sunday, June 19, with three matinees and six evening performances.
