In a ruling issued June 9, Leon County Circuit Court Judge Charles Dodson dismissed Indian River County’s legal challenge to All Aboard Florida.

Initiated and championed by Commission Chairman Bob Solari, the County’s attempt to use the courts to stop All Aboard Florida from offering high speed passenger rail service through Indian River County has cost taxpayers $1.7 million through June 1. Solari has said he would be willing to spend up to $2.5 million to challenge AAF’s plans to offer passenger rail service between Orlando and Miami.

Last month, the County lost a Supreme Court challenge a ruling by the Florida Public Service Commission. Also championed by Solari, the County’s effort to force Vero Beach to abandon its electric service territory in the unincorporated areas of the county cost taxpayers $337,000.

  1. Solari will certainly get all the lawyers votes in the next election. Let’s hope they are the only ones to vote for him.

  2. They lost at the Brevard bond debate, they lost on the EIS study, they lost in Federal court, they lost with the Florida Development Finance Corp. and now they lost against All Aboard Florida. So now we have lost $2,000,000. The lawyers have an awful lot to be thankful about with Solari, while we continue to pay the bills for absolutely nothing!
