FAMILY FUN AT THE PIRATE FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND – The Vero Beach Pirate Festival hosted in part by the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce will be held in Riverside Park on Friday (2 pm – 6 pm), Saturday (10 am – 8 pm) & Sunday (10 am – 4 pm), July 29- 31. The Festival will also span the lagoon to include Royal Palm Pointe. Each year, on the anniversary of the fateful voyage, Pirates, Privateers and Treasure Hunters of all ages gather to commemorate the loss of the 1715 Treasure Fleet in a family friendly celebration of piracy. All weekend long, there will be Living History Pirate Encampment, Roving Mistrels, Kids Fun Zone, Live Music, World Famous Treasure Hunters, Artists, Authors and Historians as well as The Quest Game (An Interactive Hunt for Wanted Pirates). Admission is FREE though a $2 (buck-n-ear) voluntary admission is greatly appreciated! On Friday night, adults (18+) may attend the Pirates Ball from 8 to 10 pm in the entertainment tent. Appetizers served from 8:30-9:30 pm and a cash bar will be available. Advance Tickets $20 per person – ($25 day of the Ball) Advance tickets to the Ball are available until 5 pm on Tuesday, July 26 at VeroBeachPirateFest.com.
Ride the The River Explorer, a 24 seat pontoon boat, between Royal Palm Pointe and Riverside Park and make sure to visit the Vero Beach Art Club’s Pirate Art Show on Saturday, July 30th on Royal Palm Pointe. The show will be on the deck between the fountain and the boat dock where the ferry will be bringing visitors. The Pirate Art Show will include contemporary treasure, booty and paintings with a Treasure Coast theme. Show hours will be Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Main Street Vero Beach presents Downtown Friday on July 29 from 6 to 9 pm on 14th Avenue at 21 Street. This popular street party offers vendors, community booths food & drink as well as live music by the Bobby Owen Band. At band intermission (about 7 pm) get your laughs on during a short laughter program with Nancy Johnson.
DANCE CLASSES FOR ADULTS AT RIVERSIDE – Riverside Theatre is offering adult master classes with professional dancers from the Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company (WHCDC) on Friday, July 29th and Friday, August 5th. Taking part of the two-week intensive Riverside Dance Festival, WHCDC will be offering an intermediate and an advanced level repertory class on those days. Participants will get to join festival students in learning selections from Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company’s repertoire. Intermediate classes are from 10:00am – 11:30am and Advanced classes are from 11:30am – 1:00pm. Fees are $50 for both classes and $30 each. Call Riverside Children’s Theatre at 772-234-8052.

COMEDY ZONE VEGAS NIGHTS THIS WEEKEND – Riverside Theatre presents The Comedy Zone Experience – Vegas Nights on Friday & Saturday, July 29 & 30 with shows at 7:30 and 9:30 pm. Enjoy an exciting Las Vegas-style casino night party with live entertainment inside and outside the theatre. MUSEUM OF ART: FREE LECTURE & FREE ADMISSION The Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Free Admission and a free lecture on Saturday, July 30. Visit the exhibition, Out of this World: The Art and Artists of NASA and attend a lecture at 2 pm with Weiping Yu, Ph.D. discussing The Past, Present and Future of U.S. Space Exploration and Scientific Discoveries. Dr. Yu is a scientist/physicist at NASA Kennedy Space Center, holds a doctorate in Engineering Physics, and is a pioneer researcher in theoretical and applied physics. For families with children ages 4 to 11, join Kidz ArtShop: Glassy Crafty. Drop in the education wing from 10 am to 1 pm so children can create their own art project. ArtShop is free for museum members, $2 non members.

SUMMERFEST 25TH Anniversary Concert – Symphony of the Americas presents 25th Anniversary Summerfest Concert 2016. Hosted by the Cultural Council of Indian River County, the concert will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 4 at Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church. This concert will highlight the “Best of the Best”. The Summerfest Chamber Orchestra will feature musicians and soloists who have participated in this Festival over the past 25 years, including from orchestras such as the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra of Austria, the Mission Chamber Orchestra of Rome, Hungarian Virtuosi, Italy’s I Musici and more, representing more than 10 different countries – performing several styles of classical and popular music for strings, all joined in cultural exchange by principal musicians of the Symphony of the Americas. CULTURAL TOUR TO PERU – Travel to Peru and Machu Picchu! Susan Drew has planned a luxury week-long cultural tour there, starting November 4. Susan is the owner of Sangha Tours, specializing in small group and custom designed tours to “off the beaten path” places. The tour will begin in Lima, heading to Peru’s beautiful Sacred Valley, before traveling to Machu Picchu and ending up in Cusco. Other areas of Peru can be added.
