NEWS RELEASE

musical-adventureRiverside Theatre presents the new production for families and young audiences, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley. Starring Riverside’s professional performance apprentices, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley will play Riverside Theatre on two successive weekends, September 30 – October 1 and October 7 – 8, with performances at 1:30pm, 4pm, and 7:30pm.

The beloved children’s book, written by Jeff Brown, has become a literary and pop cultural phenomenon, delighting readers and travelers all around the world. Award-winning playwright Timothy Allen McDonald (Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Jim Henson’s Emmet OtterRoald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach), adapted the children’s book into a live stage production of everyone’s favorite two-dimensional hero, which is filled with infectious songs and non-stop adventure.

Stanley Lambchop is an ordinary, everyday, run-of-the-mill, ten-year-old with a normal life. However, in Stanley’s mind, life is just too normal. He wants to do amazing things and travel the world. One night, Stanley’s dream comes true when the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose, falls, and flattens him. Really, REALLY flat! Postcard mailing thin! This musical travelogue takes Stanley from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond as he thwarts a robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris and “hangs ten” off the coast of Hawaii. After a while, Stanley misses his family and dreams of becoming a three-dimensional boy once more.

Directed by Kevin Quillinan, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley will have musical direction by Ken Clifton and choreography by Adam Schnell.

The cast includes: Brandon Kalusa as Stanley, with Samantha Alicandri, Jewel Blakeslee, Chris Robertson, Mary Catherine Waltman, and Molly Wiley playing a host of other characters.

Performances are:

September 30 & October 7 at 7:30pm

October 1 & 8 at 1:30pm & 4pm

Tickets are: $16-$20 for adults and $8-$10 for children. Tickets can purchased by calling the Riverside Box Office at 772-231-6990 or online at www.riversidetheatre.com.
