Vero Beach’s annual Hibiscus Festival set for April 8-9
NEWS RELEASE
The fourteenth annual Hibiscus Festival is April 8th and 9th, 2017. Over the years, the Hibiscus Festival Committee has strategically planned to expand the art element of the Hibiscus Festival and this is the third year the Art Show will be two days. With the increasing number of galleries on Fourteenth Avenue and many businesses featuring guest artists during the monthly Gallery Strolls, Downtown Vero Beach is an officially recognized Arts District. Categories for the Hibiscus Festival Art show are Ceramics, Digital Art, Fiber, Glass, Graphics, Jewelry, Metal, Mixed Media, Oils/Acrylic, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor and Wood. This year a new category of Bicycle Art has been added at the request of event partner Vero Cycling Club. Cash prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third Place.
The Hibiscus Festival will feature musical entertainment in the Art Show and throughout the festival all day. The festival features a lively atmosphere with music and food on Saturday and Sunday. Again this year, bicycle enthusiasts can participate in Vero Cycling’s Hibiscus Bike Rides. There are four distances to choose from an 11 mile Casual Ride, 34 miles, 50 mile-Half Century and the 74 mile Metric Century Plus.
Artists can apply to the Hibiscus Festival Fine Art and Fine Craft Show on ZAPP. The ZAPP system enables individual artists to apply online to multiple art shows through one central Web site, http://www.ZAPPlication.org. The online application process allows artists to directly upload digital images of artwork for jury review. This is the sixth year the Hibiscus Festival has taken applications through ZAPP online and the deadline to apply is March 7th. Artists will be notified in the days following and have until April 1st to accept the show invitations. The Hibiscus Festival Fine Art and Fine Craft Show is featured in the ZAPP Show calendar and can be found in their search with the word HIBISCUS.
