WEATHER ALERT FROM COUNTY
This is an important message from ALERT Indian River
A powerful storm system is forecast to move east over the Gulf Coast and southeast U.S. Wednesday through Thursday. These storms will precede a cold front across central Florida. East central Florida has a severe weather potential for Thursday, December 20.
Timing:
For Indian River County, we can expect deteriorating conditions between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Threats:
The threats include strong to damaging winds, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and the potential for a few tornadoes to occur. A severe thunderstorm watch and/or tornado watch is likely to be issued. Strong and gusty winds are expected on Friday. Increasing winds over the Atlantic will produce hazardous marine conditions Thursday through Saturday with winds near gale force late Thursday through Friday night.
