Hibiscus Festival features History Bike Ride for Centennial

On Saturday April 13th Main Street Vero Beach and Vero Cycling Club will host cyclists for the 2nd Annual Hibiscus History Ride. Participants will gather at 8:30am and leave in groups beginning at 9:00am from American Icon Brewery. This year’s ride will visit three iconic Waldo Sexton Properties. Local historians will share information about Vero Beach’s colorful pioneer developer and entrepreneur. The route will go to Ocean Grill, Waldo’s Driftwood Resort and McKee Botanical Gardens. After visiting each of these properties for a short tour, cyclists will circle back to American Icon Brewery. The brewery and restaurant is in the old Vero Beach Diesel Power plant built in 1926 and restored by developer Michael Rector. This event is part of the Special Centennial Edition of the Hibiscus Festival presented by Main Street Vero Beach. Art and music will fill Fourteenth Avenue on Saturday April 13th from 10:00am-6:00pm and Sunday April 14th from 10:00am-4:00pm. The festival includes a Juried Fine Art Show, Student Art Show, Shopping Cart Parade and Food Drive, Children’s Activities, a Green Market and Garden Vendors.
