Celebrate Family History Month with IRGS and Craig R. Scott at the Main Library Oct 10

Celebrate Family History Month in person at the Main Library with The Indian River Genealogical Society, IRGS Tuesday, October 10 beginning with a social at 10:30 AM. The monthly program 11 AM-12:30 PM will feature an Introduction to Records Research using Quaker Genealogy with expert Craig R. Scott of Heritage Books. The meeting is free and will be held in the Media Room.

Scott shares, “My main focus is in converting people doing genealogy into genealogists.” 

Craig R. Scott

A professional genealogical and historical researcher for more than thirty-five years, he specializes in military records, problem-solving, Quakers, and publishing. He has authored more than 17 books and articles appearing in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly and the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy. He is the President and CEO of Heritage Books, Inc., a genealogical publishing firm with over 8,500 titles in print. He is a member of the Company of Military Historians and on the editorial board of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly and a former Treasurer and Director of the Association of Professional Genealogists. He was a faculty member for several years of the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, Samford University, the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, SLIG. He is currently the Coordinator of the SLIG Consultation Track, helping students solve their “brick wall” problems. He is the coordinator for the Annual Heritage Books Genealogical Conference and Cruises. He is a recipient of the Grahame T. Smallwood, Jr. Award and UGA Silver Tray Award. He became a Fellow, Utah Genealogical Association in 2014.  His geographic specialties include DC, MD, NC, PA, VA, Mid-Atlantic, and Washington, DC.
