Riverside announces dance classes

Adam Schnell, Director of Dance Education at Riverside Theatre, announced new classes for both youth and adults for the second semester of the 2023-2024 season, which starts January 15, 2024.

The new classes are:

            Adult Contemporary/ Hip-Hop

Students will enjoy the combination of modern dance styles in this class.

            Youth Contemporary

Students will be introduced to this exciting fusion technique which combines modern

 dance, jazz, and ballet techniques.

            Teen Contemporary

Students will hone the skills necessary to succeed in today’s blending dance world.          

            Youth Hip-Hop

Students will be introduced to the basic styles and history of hip-hop in this class.

            Teen Hip-Hop

Students will move towards more advanced self expression and techniques of popping

and locking, waving, tutting, as well as power moves in this class.

All classes will be taught by Darien Santos, dancer with Ballet Vero Beach. Darien is a young dynamic instructor who has a wide array of experiences in various styles genres and styles.

Class schedules are as follows:

Mondays: 

5:00-6:00 Teen Hip-Hop (Ages 11+)

6:00-7:00 Youth Contemporary (Ages 8-10)

Wednesdays

4:00-5:00 Youth Hip-Hop (Ages 8-10)

5:00-6:00 Teen Contemporary (Ages 11+)

6:00-7:00 Adult Contemporary/Hip-Hop

Classes begin January 15 and will run through the end of May. Cost is $125 for the quarter.

ABOUT DARIEN SANTOS

Darien grew up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He trained at Turning Pointe Dance Studio under the direction of Laura Faria Sciortino. He has been a member of BalletMet Academy’s Trainee Program and a second company member with Orlando Ballet 2. Darien has performed roles in ballets including The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Giselle, George Balanchine’s Western Symphony, La Bayadere, Napoli, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Michael Pink’s Dracula, Moulin Rouge The Ballet, and A Streetcar Named Desire. He has also performed in neo-classical works by Laura Faria Sciortino, Yves de Bouteiller, Edwaard Liang, Heath Gill, Natrea Blake, Justin Allen, Leiland Charles, Rachel Kreiling, Karen Wing, Tara Iacobucci, and Katie Grenier. This is his first season with Ballet Vero Beach.
