news release
The Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC) opened its doors to serve the community through its afterschool programs for youth on February 15, 1998. Therefore, it’s only fitting that the organization declare February 15th GYAC Giving Day.
To help spread the love for GYAC, leading up to GYAC Giving Day, the organization has launched ‘Wear Your Heart On Your Wrist.’ For each donation of $25 made to the GYAC Giving Day campaign, GYAC will gift a FREE limited-edition Onyx or Moonstone Hope Bracelet to you or someone you love. For each donation of $150, GYAC will gift a Sterling Silver Hope Bracelet to you or someone you love. Each bracelet has been made with love by a GYAC supporter in collaboration with Lee Moore of Faith & Family Jewelry.
To take part in this feel-good fundraising initiative, simply:
· Visit www.mygyac.org/heart
· Make a qualifying donation to GYAC Giving Day by January 31st
· Select your style and indicate where you would like your free gift(s) sent
To allow ample time to distribute bracelets ahead of GYAC Giving Day, donations for Wear Your Heart On Your Wrist will be accepted through January 31st. Supplies are limited, so act now.
On February 15th, Hope Bracelet recipients are encouraged to Wear & Share. Near and far, recipients can be part of the GYAC Giving Day fun by posting a photo of their new jewels on their favorite social media platform with the hashtag #GYACGivingDay.
Also on February 15th, J. McLaughlin is hosting a Sip & Shop at their Village Shops location from 12PM – 4PM. Fifteen percent of sales will benefit GYAC, so stop by for light bites and enjoy an afternoon of retail therapy.
GYAC’s first-ever Giving Day will culminate with a pep-rally at the Center on Saturday, February 17. In appreciation of 26 years of support, GYAC staff and students will gather for a morning of fellowship and community service. All are welcome to attend.
“We have much to be thankful for!” exclaimed Angelia Perry, GYAC’s executive director. “Because of our community’s contributions of time, talent and treasure, GYAC is well equipped to serve its more than 400 youth per year through our academic based afterschool and summer programs. Together, we are Changing Lives, Changing Futures!”
