news release
The Hope for Families Center is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for its expansion project. The project will see the facility double in size to serve homeless families in our community. Guests will gather for the ceremony on April 25, 2024, on the property designated for the expansion which is adjacent to the current Hope for Families Center.
As we break ground on this new chapter in The Hope for Families Center’s history, we are grateful for the support of those who share hope and look forward to brighter futures for homeless families in our community.
The Hope for Families Center has been part of the Vero Beach community since 1994. It is not just a shelter but a transformative, structured program where families facing homelessness can work on rebuilding their lives. The HFC program implements five keys to success: job placement, financial literacy, equity in education, health and wellness, and housing placement to help lead families to sustainable, independent futures.
As the homelessness crisis in our community continues to grow, so do we. The Hope for Families Center has an average of 125 families on our wait list every single day. With homelessness on the rise in the Treasure Coast area, The Hope for Families Center is expanding to more than double the size of our shelter. Our shelter will be adding an additional 20 emergency shelter rooms, as well as 9 transitional apartments that will all be a part of our program. With the expansion, we aim to help many more of these families conquer homelessness and become independent and sustainable.” said Lindsey Kross, Development Manager of The Hope for Families Center.
