The Annual Pelican Island Conservation Society (PICS) Bird and Nature Art Show is once again at Environmental Learning Center (ELC). The Juried Art Show is from September 30 to October 25 during regular ELC hours. This is the 10th year benefitting the Pelican Island Conservation Society.
The mission of the Pelican Island Conservation Society is to promote awareness, conservation, stewardship and use of Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, and to support Refuge projects. Pelican Island Conservation Society is an environmental organization with the following goals:
To heighten awareness of Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge as the nation’s first National Wildlife Refuge.
To provide education and outreach opportunities to the public.
To promote the interests of Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and the National Wildlife Refuge System through advocacy.
To provide funding for the project and programs of the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge.
There will be a Plein Air paint out on Saturday Sept. 28th as the entries are being brought in by the artists. PICS has planned a keynote speaker (TBA) and several sunset pontoon rides. See the facebook.com/PICSIndianRiverBirdNatureArtShow or www.firstrefuge.org. The Environmental Learning Center has proved a great partner and site for this nature focused art show.
