arts & entertainment

The car show that began modestly in 2015 is now one of the preeminent events for gearheads and motor enthusiasts in Indian River County. The 9th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will be held on Saturday, November 2 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, located at 520 Royal Palm Boulevard.

The family-friendly event in the church parking lots is expected to draw hundreds of visitors eager for a close-up look at 85 classic vehicles from six area car clubs and individual owners in the community, along with several auto-related vendors. Trophies will be presented at 2:30 PM for best General Motors, Ford, Mopar (Chrysler) and foreign automobile, in addition to a Driver’s Choice award and Best in Show. Small fry can get their faces painted and take part in organized games, while Deejay Butch Almberg spins tunes from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s for the big kids. Burger lovers will be happy to see The Source food truck on site, voted Best Burger in Indian River County. Attendees can buy tickets for a chance to win a variety of prizes and also bid on a $500 certificate for labor on body work by Custom Paint Services of Vero Beach. In addition, one lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle will end the day with half the “pot” of accumulated cash. The other half — and all proceeds from the 9th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will benefit the First Presbyterian Church Men’s Fellowship Charity Fund, which helps support more than a dozen local nonprofits. Admission to the 9th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show is free. For more information or to register a vehicle, visit www.FirstPresVero.org or call (740) 803-3519.

Vehicles are considered “classic” after 25 years. The 9th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will have cars from the 1920’s through the 2000’s. Glenn Conn has watched the event grow each year and expects a record turnout for the show.

“This is a great event for families,” said Mr. Conn. “Everyone enjoys walking around, talking to owners and admiring these beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles. Best of all, this fundraiser helps us support numerous charities that do good work every day in our community.”

Space permitting, vehicle owners can register for a spot in the 9th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show up through the morning of the event. The fee for advance registration is $15, with day of show registration $20. Commemorative dashboard plaques will be available for the first 75 cars.

Charities supported by the First Presbyterian Church Men’s Fellowship include Space Coast Honor Flight, Florida Sherriff’s Youth Ranch, Salt of the Earth Ministries, Vietnam Veterans of Indian River County, Hope for Families, Alzheimer’s/ Parkinson’s Association of Indian River County, Missionary Flights International, Dogs for life, Camp Haven and more.
