Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for Dec 15 – 21.

Vero Beach Art Club offers Art in the Park on 12/15/24, 10:00 AM.  Located at Humiston Park on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach, Art in the Park provides the perfect opportunity for visitors and residents to interact with our Artists and Craft Artisans and to purchase beautiful, original artwork.

Environmental Learning Center offers Walking Meditation on 12/15/24, 11:00 AM. Join in on walking meditation through ELC’s natural surroundings. Walking meditation is a ‘meditation in motion,’ great for beginners and seasoned meditators alike. If our daily lives are defined by ‘going to’ or ‘coming from,’ a walking meditation is simply about being present, happy to be alive!

Environmental Learning Center offers Tai Chi & Balance on 12/16/24, 8:00 AM. Join Chris Brenner, retired Naval Officer/High School Educator, and graduate of the Tai Ji Quan Instructor Training program, as he guides you through this traditional practice of Tai Chi.

Emerson Center offers Max Weinberg’s Jukebox on 12/16/24, 7:00 PM.  Following the concert a Meet & Greet with Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Max Weinberg will take place at 9:00 PM. Longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Max will meet you backstage after the concert. Have your photo taken and two pieces of memorabilia autographed by this rock legend. Additional ticket needed for the Meet & Greet. Only 15 tickets available to this one-time event!

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers Laura Riding Jackson’s historic home tours on Tuesday’s or the second Sunday of each month 1pm-5pm where our amazing volunteer docents will give you a tour! We can accommodate groups of 8 or fewer as drop-ins; to bring a larger group for a tour, please reserve in advance.

Emerson Center offers Anything Goes Exhibition at Art at the Emerson Gallery: An Array of Open Expression Where All Mediums Collide on 12/18/2024, 5:30 PM.  This event showcases a diverse range of works from local artists across all mediums, from painting and sculpture to digital art and mixed media. Featuring a broad spectrum of styles and techniques, the exhibition highlights the boundless possibilities of artistic expression, inviting viewers to engage with the raw, unfiltered creativity of the artists.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Art Talk on 12/18/2024, 12:00 PM.  Join VBMA education staff and docents for an in-depth focus on select artworks from special exhibitions and the permanent collection. Registered participants will meet docents at the main entrance of the Museum and will move to the galleries as a group. Space is limited; preregistration required.

Bring your sustainably packaged lunch and join us in the Lagoon Room at Noon for informative presentations on a variety of topics. Hear stories told from direct descendants of Vero’s pioneer families. Learn about the most memorable ghosts and legends of Indian River County. Be inspired by Marine Biologists and Environmental Advocators working to improve and restore critical ecosystems and protect endangered species and much more!

Environmental Learning Center offers Chair Yoga with Elise on 12/18/2024 & 12/25/24, 1:30PM. Join Elise Mahovlich for a gentler, more accessible form of yoga that’s done while sitting or using a chair for balance. Move into poses like cat/cow, warrior, sun salutations and forward folds.

Riverside Theatre offers Comedy Zone on 12/20/2024 & 12/21/24 6:00PM. Riverside’s showcase of professional comedians touring the comedy circuit takes the Waxlax Stage.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Cork, Canvas & Company on 12/19/2024, 6:30 PM.  Spend an evening with friends in the VBMA Art School studios! Instructors Barry Shapiro and Camy De Mario lead participants step-by-step as they complete original artworks. Art materials are provided, and participants can bring their own beverages and snacks. No experience is necessary!

McKee Botanical Garden offers Jungle Lights on 12/17 – 12/22 & 12/26 – 12/29 , 6:00PM. Enjoy this special opportunity to see the garden at night. The Garden will be illuminated with thousands of professionally installed LED lights.

North Indian River County Library offers Laugh and Learn with Nancy Johnson on 12/19/2024, 10:30AM. Did you know Research shows the more you laugh and smile, the more you can increase your energy levels and mood, as well as boost your immune system and relieve stress!? Nancy Johnson, The laughing lady, has created a series of presentations that are interactive, fun, and educational! Her programs promote healthy living through laughter, smiling, a positive attitude, and positive actions!

Environmental Learning Center offers Little Wonders on 12/21/2024, 9:00AM. Little Wonders is an engaging outdoor nature enrichment and early literacy program for children 18 months to 4 years old. Participate in Nature Story Time, Outdoor Mud Kitchen, and Interactive Sing-a-longs. This is designed to have parent or guardian participation.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop 12/19, 12/20 & 12/21, 5:30PM.  Riverside Theatre’s FREE outdoor music venue with local musicians playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Cultural Council of Indian River County, in conjunction with Mandy and Ray Hooker, offers Art in Public Places.  We invite you to a viewing at Indian River Distillery, 3308 Aviation Blvd. in Vero Beach.  Exhibit Theme: “Old Florida”. Label Competition on view through Feb 27. Featured Artists: Merana Cadorette, Ella Chabot, Elise Geary, Mary Ann Hall, Gwen McNenney, Darrell Remole, Joe Thomas & Mariya Yankovich. The winner of the label competition will be revealed at a special event on Feb. 26 at the Heritage Center.  Limited-edition signature bottles of vodka will be available for sale.

Riverside Theatre offers Playtime in the Park on 12/21/2024, 11:00AM.  A FREE program for the community’s youngest audience members, Playtime in the Park will have dance and theatre offerings from our education programs on the Theatre’s outdoor Loop Stage. These offerings are ideal for kids 2-5, but entertaining for parents and the whole family, too! Dance is showcased at this performance.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller on view through 1/5/25. This solo exhibition showcases numerous large-scale glass sculptures from various series spanning artist John Miller’s extensive career. The artworks reflect his fascination with and personal connection to Americana automotive and food culture, as well as the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. Drawing inspiration from major Pop Art figures like Claes Oldenburg, Miller imbues his contemporary pieces with both reverence and humor. Ranging from hamburgers to automobile hood ornaments, his glass creations evoke feelings of nostalgia and joy in visitors.

Vero Beach Art Club Gallery & Marketplace offers Veterans Art Classes on 12/19/2024, 6:00PM. We are meeting monthly with local Veterans interested in learning how to paint, draw, and use art as a form of therapy. If you or anyone you know is a Veteran or First Responder who is interested in taking art classes, please spread the word.

Environmental Learning Center offers Yoga with Annie on 12/20/2024, 1:00 PM. Join Annie Astley Padnuk as she guides you through the ancient practice of yoga. Practicing Yoga not only helps with flexibility and muscle tone, it also helps improve cognitive skills such as learning and memory.
