Our 12th season begins with a monumental program featuring works by George Balanchine and Christopher Wheeldon and the world premiere of Artistic Director Adam Schnell’s The Four Seasons. The company adds a third work by George Balanchine, the sparkling Glinka Pas De Trois, and a second work, the neoclassical and athletic duet from The American by Christopher Wheeldon, to our repertoire. These added works signify the growth of the company while showcasing the dancer’s athleticism and agility.
Schnell’s take on The Four Seasons uses Vivaldi’s masterful score as a jumping-off point, decked out in art nouveau style. Audiences will enjoy brilliant costumes, new set pieces, and never-before-seen choreography in this one-act neoclassical romp. The Four Seasons also becomes the company’s third installment of its Stage to Page program, providing free student matinees with arts-integrated literacy engagements for Indian River County elementary students.
Full performances are slated for 7:30pm on January 17 and 2:00pm and 7:30pm on January 18. The Accessible/Family Friendly Series performance for this production will take place on January 19 at 2:00pm.
Accessible/Family Friendly Series performances feature modified audio and visual effects and increased accessible seating and sections for those who might not be able to remain seated throughout the performance. Ballet Vero Beach is thrilled to be the only arts organization in the area to offer a fully Accessible/Family Friendly Series that offers professional-level arts experiences to underserved segments of our community. All tickets for this series are subsidized at $10, thanks to the generosity of Ballet Vero Beach’s many funders and donors.
All performances will take place at the VBHS Performing Arts Center, and Watch At Home archival film access will be available for this program. Student Rush tickets are available at the door for $10 by providing a valid student ID.
