Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for Jan 25 – Feb 1.

Mckee Botanical Garden offers Sean Kenney’s Nature Pop!® Made with LEGO® bricks Exhibition from 1/24 through 5/4. Featuring 40 sculptures made with over 800,000 LEGO; Bricks and explores the beauty of nature through contemporary, stylized, and colorful displays that stand in striking contrast with their surroundings.

Environmental Learning Center offers Lagoonapalooza! On 1/25, 10am. An exciting new twist to our Nature Fest (fka EcoFest then LagoonFest), now with live bands at our Event Pavilion and in a cooler month! Join us for this free event that features dozens of environmental partners with tons of hands-on activities, food, pontoon or kayak trips, visits to the aquarium and touch tank, dip netting in the pond, plus some of the areas best musical groups performing throughout the day.

Riverside Theatre offers Mystic Pizza 1/7 through 1/26 – show times vary. Mystic Pizza is a new musical based on the 1988 rom-com from MGM and screenwriter Amy Holden Jones. Mystic Pizza tells the story of three working-class girls, who navigate the complexities of life, love, and family in a small-town pizza joint. The infectious score features megahits of the 80s and 90s, from “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”; to “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”; and songs originally recorded by Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper, John Cougar Mellencamp, Debbie Gibson, Wilson Phillips, The Bangles, Belinda Carlisle, Rick Astley, Bryan Adams, among many others.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop on 1/25, 1/30, 1/31 & 2/1, 5:30 PM. Riverside Theatre’s FREE outdoor music venue with local musicians playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Bands TBD

Center for Spiritual Care offers Tied, Dyed, Woven & Stitched 2025. The is an exhibition of local artists who will be displaying their fabric, fiber and wood art work.  On exhibit through 1/31. 

Environmental Learning Center offers Walking Meditation on 1/26, 11am. Join Elise on a walking meditation through ELC’s natural surroundings. Walking meditation is a ‘meditation in motion,’ great for beginners and seasoned meditators alike. If our daily lives are defined by ‘going to’ or ‘coming from,’ a walking meditation is simply about being present, happy to be alive!

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers International Lecture Series: Art Heists: Stealing Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Degas on 1/27, 4:30pm. Few people know the reality of art theft. While popular media depicts art theft as the work of clever culprits and cat burglars, this is far from reality. The truth is far more interesting. Anthony Amore is an art theft expert, investigator, and security practitioner.

Environmental Learning Center offers Tai Chi & Balance on 1/27, 8:00AM. Join Chris Brenner, retired Naval Officer/High School Educator, and graduate of the Tai Ji Quan Instructor Training program, as he guides you through this traditional practice of Tai Chi.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County in conjunction with Mandy and Ray Hooker invite you to a viewing at Indian River Distillery, 3308 Aviation Blvd. in Vero Beach.  Exhibit Theme: “Old Florida”. Label Competition on view through Feb 27. Featured Artists: Merana Cadorette, Ella Chabot, Elise Geary, Mary Ann Hall, Gwen McNenney, Darrell Remole, Joe Thomas & Mariya Yankovich. The winner of the label competition will be revealed at a special event on Feb. 26 at the Heritage Center.  Limited-edition signature bottles of vodka will be available for sale.

Laura (Riding) Jackson Historic Home & Garden offers Historic Home Tours on 1/28, 1:00PM
Laura Riding Jackson’s historic home is open for tours from November through April each year. You can drop by on Tuesday’s or the second Sunday of each month 1pm-5pm and our amazing volunteer docents will give you a tour! We can accommodate groups of 8 or fewer as drop-ins; to bring a larger group for a tour, please reserve in advance.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers VBMA Film Studies Program Series 3 on 1/28, 1:30PM
Film Series 3: January 7-February 4, 2025.
Keeping it Real: Cinematic Tales Inspired by Real-Life Events or People. Film Studies Instructor Diane Thelen will introduce the films, which will be screened in the Museum’s Leonhardt Auditorium. Participants can also stream the films from the comfort of their homes. Following the in-house screening, attendees can participate in a brief, optional “talk-back” session to share their thoughts and ask questions about the film with fellow attendees.

MusicWorks Concerts offers Broken Arrow and Laurel Canyon-The Music of Crosby Stills Nash & Young.
1/28, 7:30pm at the Sunrise Theatre.
Broken Arrow performs the music of Neil Young, featuring both the rockin’ electric Crazy Horse tunes and his acoustic country rock material. The trio of Laurel Canyon performs an acoustic tribute to the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young featuring a re-creation of the songs from their early bands and their solo years.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Gala 2025: A Moveable Feast on 1/31, 6pm.  Guests at this year’s Vero Beach Museum of Art gala will take a delicious stroll through an outdoor Parisian Street Market, sip wines from Bordeaux, sample French delicacies, and enjoy a delectable dinner served French Family Style.  Attendees will also be the first to experience the winter exhibition French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950. Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers TWW: Fantasy & Science Fiction on 2/1, 9:30am. Teen writers workshop focused on fantasy and science fiction. Register at lrjf.org.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950. Exhibit runs through June 22.  This winter, the internationally touring French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950, makes its first-ever stop in southeast Florida at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The exhibition showcases 59 artworks from the Brooklyn Museum’s esteemed collection of European art, spanning the era between the Revolution of 1848 and the conclusion of World War II-a period marked by significant social, intellectual, and political upheaval in France.  The exhibition highlights the avant-garde movements that shaped modern art in the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring works by renowned artists native to France, as well as those who studied and exhibited there.
